Support and Resources

Teens and Parents

We encourage young people to involve their parents in health care decisions whenever possible. By providing their love and support, parents can play a crucial role for their teen during a challenging time.

In Maine, a minor can obtain confidential reproductive health care, including abortion care, without parental consent or notification.

Most young people do involve at least one parent when making a pregnancy decision. For help with talking to your parents, or if you are the parent of a pregnant teen, go to “Mom, Dad, I’m Pregnant.”
