Who We Serve
1 in 3 women in the United States will have an abortion in her lifetime. Abortion is a normal, essential reproductive healthcare procedure. Although there is a legal right to abortion in the United States, there are often many barriers to accessing abortion care.
Maine Family Planning staff provides compassionate, confidential health services, regardless of your gender identity or expression. Whatever decisions you make about your health, we listen and provide support without judgment.
In Maine, a minor can obtain confidential reproductive health care, including abortion care, without parental consent or notification. We encourage young people to involve a parent or trusted adult in important health care decisions. Most young people do involve at least one parent when making a pregnancy decision. For help with talking to your parents, or if you are the parent of a pregnant teen, go to “Mom, Dad, I’m Pregnant.”
