Training and Education

The Family Planning Association of Maine is committed to promoting comprehensive sexuality education in Maine schools and communities that is K-12, age-appropriate, and includes puberty, abstinence, and contraception.

We believe:

  • Sexuality is a natural and normal part of being human.
  • Young people deserve accurate, age-appropriate information about sexuality from caring adults in order to lead safe, sexually healthy lives.
  • Parents, teachers and other adults who interact with young people often need support and training to increase their own comfort level, knowledge and skills in teaching and talking about this sensitive subject.

Our goal is to build capacity to deliver evidence-based approaches that prevent teen pregnancy and the spread of HIV and sexually transmitted infections.
